The more traditional boss might argue that staff are meant to come to work to do their jobs – what they have to do is in their contracts, and they don’t need incentives to do this. However, the more modern boss knows that this might be the case, but it’s not the way to get the best out of your staff. Engaging them and making them feel part of the company is going to produce the best results, above and beyond leaving them to their own devices.
The type of incentive offered doesn’t have to be the same across every organisation, and it certainly doesn’t have to be the same for every member of staff either. You can set each one individual goals that you can discuss in one to ones, and when staff work towards these, there can be some kind of reward available to them when they make a success of it.
