Throughout our history, the majority of people have had great difficulty acquiring enough food to remain healthy. It was a constant struggle for survival. Nowadays, food is still a subject of great import, but for vastly different reasons. There is such an abundance of cheap, easily grown food available, that the opposite problems now exist. People eat far too much of far too low quality food. Add to this the addictive nature of much of the available food, and then managing your eating habits is a difficult thing, even for those with a lot of resources. For poorer people, who only have access to the poor quality food, managing this is incredibly difficult.
There are a few things which you can do to help your body react to food better. It is a well known fact that it takes a while for your body to respond to food you’ve eaten, and say that you’ve had enough. Eating more slowly is a great way to take advantage of this. You can exercise some self control to do this, but there are some neat tricks you can do to help. Using smaller eating utensils requires you to take longer while eating, giving your body more time to react to what you’ve eaten. Portion control is an important part of this as well. If you pre-set the amount you can eat, then you can better control your caloric intake.
